What the area is like

The Memorial area runs along the west side of Houston, generally west of the loop, and blends into the Energy Corridor employment district farther out along I-10 and the Katy Freeway. It is known for wooded, established subdivisions, good tree cover, and a more suburban-in-the-city feel than the inner-loop neighborhoods.

What tends to define the area:

Who it suits: buyers who want more space and tree cover, a quieter residential setting, and easy access to west-side employment and parks, while staying connected to the rest of Houston via I-10 and the Beltway. Because the area covers many separate neighborhoods, schools, commute, and lot character can vary a lot from one pocket to the next.

We can help you sort through which specific neighborhoods line up with your commute, the kind of home you want, and your budget.

  • A range of housing, from mid-century ranch homes on larger lots to newer construction and townhomes, spread across many distinct subdivisions.
  • Proximity to large parks and green space, including the Terry Hershey Park trail system and George Bush Park on the west side.
  • The Energy Corridor itself, a major concentration of employers, which makes the area convenient for people who work on the west side and want a shorter commute.
